with a deeply rooted love for community building and a belief in the magical power of sisterhood. This belief ignites my mission to strengthen women of color through movement, meditation and connection.

As a yoga teacher with over 15 years of experience, I’ve led hundreds of students at Black-owned/women-owned wellness spaces in the Baltimore/DC area including Utkatasana Power Yoga Studio, The Living Well, The Heartnest Wellness Center and Twists and Turns Body Fitness. I’ve connected with sisters through teaching and speaking at national conferences, spiritual retreats and women’s wellness events throughout Maryland, Washington, DC, Pennsylvania and Connecticut.

I was an elementary teacher for over a decade and would use calming yogic techniques with my students. When I left the classroom, I continued my passion for working with the youth by teaching yoga at school programs at the Carmelo Anthony Youth Development Center, Baltimore City Public Schools, Maryland National Parks and Planning Commission, Judy Center, Washington Nationals Youth Baseball Academy, Girl Scouts, Inc. and several private schools and institutions.

In 2011, while looking for an all-women yoga class, I started my own series Sistas Yoga Sundays. In 2012, I served as a contributing fitness writer for the Examiner.com and in 2013, I founded Ama Wellness, a wholistic wellness company and in 2015 I founded a aromatherapy company called Ama Scents.

When I’m not teaching or mixing up essential oil blends, you can find my nose buried in a book, going on homeschool adventures with my fiery spirited son, sharing tea with my sista-friends or working on client projects for my web design company, Ama Designs.

I’m currently working on my first wellness book slated to be published in late 2017. View my full yoga resume here.

Nazaahah’s exceptional talent and positive spirit, (along with) her guidance has helped enhance my Yoga practice by increasing my flexibility, strength, balance, (and) peacefulness…”
